Our Story

The journey for Louisa Jewell and Tracy Griffin began a few years back when both of them were involved with a client that created a culture of dysfunction and chaos where the employee turnover rate was close to 100%. During the tenure of this experience, they began hearing and listening to over 100 very disgruntled and dissatisfied employees about their grievances which ranged from depression, physical ailments to complete unhappiness in life. After extensive work on trying to improve the situation, Louisa and Tracy decided to branch off on their own to focus their efforts on understanding why employees stay in these situations and what factors lead to their departure.

www.WhyDidYouGo.com was founded in 2007 by Louisa Jewell and Tracy Griffin. The website was created based on the simple concept that happiness is one of the major things employees are seeking in the workplace in the 21st century. In order to fully understand the depth of the topic, several surveys were developed and sent out to gather anonymous information across Canada to employees who left companies and employees who decide to stay. We are continuously gathering this information through surveys and focus groups to understand and to identify some key trends across Canada regarding key factors on what makes employees happy on the job.
